Associations between infant wellbeing and growth

This project investigates the relationship between infant growth and the wellbeing of both the infant and its parents during the first year of life.

We will explore how weight development in infants is influenced by various factors, including the mental wellbeing of the child and family. Our analysis will use data from The Danish ADBB Infant Cohort (DAIC), which includes information from health visitors’ assessments of around 150,000 children across 63 municipalities. This data covers aspects such as social withdrawal, weight and length development, breastfeeding, and depressive symptoms in parents.

The project will specifically focus on:

  1. The key factors that impact weight development in infants.
  2. The influence of social inequality on the mental wellbeing and growth of both parents and infants.
  3. The connection between children’s weight at school entry and their weight development and wellbeing during infancy.
